Representatives from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) have visited InstaVolt’s Winchester Superhub to discover more about the technology.

Directors of Transport Decarbonisation Richard Bruce CBE and Caroline Low CBE met with InstaVolt’s CEO Delvin Lane and members of the senior management team to tour the Superhub.

The site has 44 fully accessible 160kW ultra-rapid chargers and an on-site 870-panel solar farm with 4MWh battery storage technology.

Built to reduce reliance on the grid and drive down public EV charging costs, the site is powered by its own 100% renewable energy and stores surplus solar energy and cheap overnight electricity for use during periods of high demand.

Bruce and Low also discussed with the InstaVolt team how both the government and private sector investment can speed up the rollout of critical EV infrastructures by working together, propelling the UK towards its net zero targets.

As a part of the Department of Transport, OZEV is a government body supporting the UK’s transition to zero emission vehicles.

InstaVolt’s CEO Delvin Lane said:

“We’re grateful to Richard and Caroline for finding the time within their busy schedules to come and see the Superhub. It’s our first-ever location where we’re generating and storing our own renewable energy – an achievement we’re immensely proud of at InstaVolt.

“We’re committed to working in partnership with government bodies such as OZEV wherever possible to make EV adoption more widely accessible as petrol and diesel vehicles are phased out.”
