Ford Ireland’s official charging partner ChargeGuru has announced it will be taking care of the planning, installation and maintenance of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for all Ford electric vehicle drivers in Northern Ireland and Ireland for only £10/free.

The initiative was launched in Northern Ireland last month and will now expand to cover Ireland, too. This offer comes through the Ford Power Promise, which encourages drivers to switch to electric by removing common adoption barriers, and making EV ownership more affordable.

Powered by ChargeGuru, the offer lets each driver choose either a state-of-the-art Sync Energy or Hypervolt charger for home installation.

To redeem the offer, drivers are encouraged to contact their local dealership, where their Ford expert will submit the request on their behalf.

ChargeGuru will then provide charger options directly to the customer, and once the order is confirmed, installation is scheduled within 2-4 weeks.

For Irish customers to benefit from the free charger offer, they must apply for the SEAI Home Charger Grant in advance of installation works being carried out.

By 2035, Ford is targeting all vehicle sales to be 100% all-electric.

ChargeGuru’s Ford installation package includes:

  • The fitting of a home charger onto a brick or plaster wall, or other suitable permanent structure
  • The installation of a new mini consumer unit, with built-in surge protection
  • The drilling through a wall, up to half a metre thick, and routing of cable through the hole, if required
  • A neatly run and clipped cable up to 5m between the electrical supply and the charger
  • The fitting and testing of electrical connections and protections required for the charger

Denis Watling, UK Managing Director at ChargeGuru UK & Ireland, said:

“As a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions throughout Europe, ChargeGuru is on a mission to make EV charging simple for everyone. We have already installed hundreds of EV chargers for Ford’s commercial customers, via our existing partnership with Ford Pro.

“So expanding our partnership with Ford to enable their private customers throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland to charge their electric Fords was a logical & exciting next step.”
