The UK Government has announced investment into four growth regions for clean energy, including Pembrokeshire, where an initiative is supporting skilled workers.
The initiative is designed to help build the pipeline of workers needed to deliver the government’s ambitions to drive clean growth.
Bute Energy is developing the largest pipeline of onshore wind in Wales, with the potential to generate more than 2GW of energy (2.25 million homes) by 2030.
The portfolio could contribute around 25% of the total electricity demand for Wales and 16% of the UK Government’s targets to double onshore wind by 2030.
In November 2024, Bute Energy launched its Net Zero Skills Strategy, which aims to create inclusive pathways into the industry as well as upskilling the Welsh supply chain to apply for large scale projects.
The independent Welsh onshore wind developer works with schools, colleges, universities, and training providers across Wales for learners to gain exposure into the renewables sector.
