Believ lowers EV charging rates to promote transition
Electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ has implemented a reduction in charging rates in Wandsworth and Waltham Forest, saving drivers up to 15p/kWh.
The move is designed to encourage the use of area’s public charging network and promote the benefits of switching to EVs.
This new 48p/kWh rate equates to a 15p/mile, 5p/mile cheaper than running a petrol car at present prices, helping to further highlight the advantages of transitioning to EVs and away from petrol and diesel cars, it said.
Guy Bartlett, Believ CEO, said:
“As well as encouraging the use of public charging network, this price reduction is designed to help drivers make the switch and help further the decarbonisation of transport – in order to deliver cleaner air for all.
“The reduction in carbon emissions and its impact is a long-term benefit and goal of the EV switch, but cleaner air is an immediate benefit and incredibly important for our health. The industry has a duty to do what we can to encourage more and more drivers to make the switch sooner,” he says.
“We also know that price is one of many important factors drivers take into account when using EV charging networks. It is also essential that charge points are reliable and easy to use – and we’re delighted to be working with Wandsworth and Waltham Forest to install a charging network that meets these needs.”
