Village Hotel Club has announced plans to install ultra-rapid charging points across its 33 locations as part of a national programme with IONITY.

IONITY, A leading pioneer in sustainable mobility solutions, will install 380 chargers at Village’s hotels, offering up to 350kWh.

Open to all vehicle types, these chargers will enable the general public, local communities and hotel guests alike to recharge up to 80% of their electric vehicle in under 10-15 minutes.

All chargers will be powered exclusively by renewable electricity sourced from wind, solar, or hydroelectric energy.

The roll out will provide national coverage of public Ultra Rapid charging, making great strides to support the Government’s plans for 80% of all new cars sold from 2030 to be electric.

Kelli Turner, General Counsel and Director of ESG at Village Hotel Club said:

“The UK’s shift to a greener future requires action from all – particularly corporates. At Village, we’re proud to play a role in supporting this shift through the installation of ultra–rapid chargers across our estate. This not only allows electric vehicle users to charge much faster than a standard charger, but also has the added convenience of allowing visitors to charge while at their local Village Gym, using our coworking space VWorks, or popping in for a coffee at our onsite Starbucks.”

“The IONITY partnership is a key part of Village Green, Village Hotel Club’s ESG and sustainability strategy. Under Village Green, the Group aims to have a positive impact on the communities it operates in, both environmentally and socially.”

Andreas Atkins, Country Manager UK & Ireland, IONITY said:

“Ultra-rapid charging is a foundation of the EV revolution across the UK, making EV driving easier and more accessible than ever before. I am genuinely excited about our agreement with Village Hotels to deliver 33 charging hubs across their nationwide portfolio. It is an important collaboration for both the crucial Village Green programme and our plans to more than quadruple the number of publicly available stations and charging points in the UK by 2025.

“With the IONITY EV chargers attracting new footfall to sites, these hubs can inject hundreds of thousands of pounds into the local economies, helping local businesses and communities to thrive.

“Together, we can establish long-distance travel with electric vehicles as the new normal – no matter what EV you drive, and contribute to a wider, greener transformation across the country and accelerate sustainable mobility across Europe.”
