Good Energy launches new fixed tariff

Renewable electricity firm Good Energy Group has launched a new fixed tariff to help EV drivers charge vehicles both at home and on the go.

The tariff offers a rate of just 7.4p per kWh for overnight charging during a five-hour window, ensuring EV drivers can charge up with 100% renewable electricity at home. It also comes with a free premium subscription to Zapmap.

Zapmap, which Good Energy is a long-term partner of and largest investor in, currently tracks more than 60,000 charge points with more than 70% providing live data for costs and availability.

In addition, a survey by Zapmap found that EV drivers are more likely to have solar panels, heat pumps and batteries installed, all installation services offered by Good Energy.

The Good Energy Smart EV Fixed launched on the 1 July with the off peak rate, accessible in a five-hour window between 12am and 5am. It means customers can charge a standard range Tesla Model Y from empty to 100% for as little as £4.50.

The tariff will be live until 31 July 2025.

Nigel Pocklington, chief executive officer of Good Energy and chair of Zapmap said:

“As a major investor in the UK’s go-to EV charging app, a supplier of truly renewable electricity, and an EV charger installer, Good Energy is uniquely positioned to help EV drivers.

“This new tariff, together with the excellent additional features from Zapmap, is designed to make it as cost-effective and straightforward as possible to drive an electric vehicle. We have gone the extra mile to provide customers with a competitive rate for truly renewable electricity, sourced from our community of over 2,500 generators, as well as a real added benefit to help with charging on the go in Zapmap Premium.”

Melanie Shufflebotham, cofounder and chief operating officer of Zapmap said:

“Zapmap aims to make it easy to search, plan and pay for EV charging when drivers are on the go. So it’s great to be working with our longterm partners in Good Energy to package that service with a tariff that helps them charge economically at home too.”
