Fleets in Charge to share electrification learning

Experts in fleet electrification will share experiences and assessments of progress on the issue at the BVRLA’s Fleets in Charge Conference in July.

The conference will take stock of the Zero Emission Mandate’s impact across the whole fleet and EV ecosystem.

Sessions will span keynote speeches and informative panels, offering insights drawn from the latest data as well as first-hand experiences.

Chaired by Steve Fowler, the agenda includes senior fleet figures representing Arval UK, Auto Trader, Stellantis, Charge UK, National Grid, The AA, Royal Mail, Centrica, and Mobility Operations, among others.

Wider insights on the future of insurance and automotive business models will come from Admiral Pioneer and Frost and Sullivan respectively.

Political parties will also be present with Transport Minister Anthony Browne MP laying out the government’s current targets and progress against them with Shadow Roads Minister Bill Esterson MP sharing Labour’s vision for the sector should the party come to power later this year.

Gerry Keaney, BVRLA Chief Executive, said:

“Supported by powerful incentives, business leasing has been a flagbearer for battery electric vehicle (BEV) adoption from day one. The wider picture presents an imbalanced EV uptake, with some end user segments left without any transition support and others bearing all the risks associated with adopting expensive new technology. The BEV market is in danger of stalling and the jury is still out as to whether the ZEV Mandate in its current form will help or hinder.”

“By bringing the sector’s leading voices together under one roof, the Fleets in Charge Conference will examine the successes seen in decarbonisation to date. Far from giving our sector a pat on the back, sessions will showcase how that progress can be replicated by others, while shining a spotlight on the barriers blocking further adoption.”
