New AutoMotive launch first dedicated EV dealer comparison tool

UK drivers can now easily calculate the savings of going electric by using New AutoMotive’s new electric vehicle (EV) Dealer Comparison Tool.

It’s the first EV only dealer comparison tool on the market, and the platform allows users to shop from hundreds of offers from the top EV dealers from around the country, helping them find the best deal possible on new electric vehicles.

When drivers enter their registration number, they are presented with a breakdown of their yearly fuel cost and tailpipe emissions – all calculated using data from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

Users can then calculate potential monthly savings thanks to a side-by-side comparison with the running costs of an EV similar to their current vehicle model.

Once presented with the comparison figures, drivers can then browse for electric vehicles from a selection of leading specialist EV car dealers.

These dealers include Octopus Electric Vehicles, EZOO, The Electric Car Scheme, Drive Green, loveelectric and EV Experts, who have all partnered with the platform to bring affordable EVs to drivers across the UK.

The comparison tool also addresses the misinformation that is regularly associated with EVs, with subjects like range anxiety, battery replacement costs, and public charging all tackled through the site’s knowledge hub.

The platform’s launch comes at a time when manufacturers are competing to sell electric vehicles to meet government targets set by the Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) mandate.

As a result of the policy, prices of new EVs are likely to continue falling, with mass market models expected to fall by up to £10k this year.

According to analysis by the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU), drivers of the top 10 selling EVs of 2023 – such as the Tesla Model Y – will enjoy a £1,300 a year saving in running costs compared with equivalent petrol cars.

Conversely, drivers of the top 10 selling petrol cars of 2023 could face a ‘petrol premium’ of around £700 a year more to run their vehicles than their electric equivalents.

Ben Nelmes, CEO of New AutoMotive, said: “Buying an electric vehicle is not only an environmentally conscious decision but a financially sound one.

“Millions of motorists are missing out on the enormous benefits that driving electric has to offer, and with an increasing number of drivers having to choose between an empty tank or an empty wallet, there’s never been a better time to make the switch.

“The Cost Savings Calculator provides prospective EV drivers with the clarity and confidence they need to make an informed purchase – something that’s needed if the UK is to successfully transition to electric.”
