AA Business Services has announced the theme of its latest webinar, Engaging People in the Drive for Change, for 26 September.

On the day, an expert panel will examine the challenges associated with transitioning to a cleaner, smarter and more resilient road network, as well as unveiling original research on the future of car purchasing and usage.

Experts include AA President Edmund King, AA Business Services director James Starling, director of Drivetech Nick Butler, and chief strategy officer of Paythru, Sara Sloman.

As businesses weigh up the potential impact on operations of an electric vehicle (EV) transition, “the human element is often overshadowed”, the AA claimed, by a focus on technological advancements, infrastructure development and environmental concerns.

But engaging drivers is essential for adoption success, according to Starling.

He said: “We appreciate that addressing human needs, behaviours, and emotions in the context of the future of mobility is complex. Factors like driver behaviour, customer service, risk management and psychological impacts involve a wide range of considerations that may be daunting, so it is vital that we address them early in the transition.

“We are shifting from early adoption to alternative fuelled vehicles such as EVs becoming increasingly mainstream. To achieve transition success, fleets must involve and engage with their drivers.

“This webinar will shine a light on the human factors that can deliver progress, debating how businesses can positively bring their people on the journey to a safer and lower-carbon future.”
