Pod Point to install EV charging for housing developer Redrow

Pod Point will provide electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for new build properties across England and Wales after agreeing a two-year partnership with housing developer Redrow.

The partnership builds on an existing relationship the company have had with Redrow since 2018, with the new agreement seeing Pod Point become a preferred provider of EV charging infrastructure.

Redrow builds over 5,700 new homes each year, and Pod Point will supply to all of Redrow’s operating divisions across England and Wales.

Redrow is committed to reaching an all-electric car fleet by the end of 2025, so the contract also extends to some of the developer’s offices and sales centres that need retrofitting for chargepoints. Redrow employees will also be able to access preferential rates for Pod Point home chargepoints.

To date, Pod Point have supplied over 2,000 charge points to the house builder.

Commenting on the partnership, Andy Palmer, CEO, Pod Point, said: “We’re delighted to strengthen our partnership with Redrow as their preferred EV charging provider. Redrow’s commitment to enabling more sustainable transport choices aligns with our mission to put a chargepoint everywhere you park, enabling mass adoption of electric cars and working towards a future where EV charging is accessible and convenient for all.”

The new partnership follows the Part S Legislation which came into force in June 2022, as part of an amendment to the country’s Building Regulations. The regulations aim to future proof homes and buildings and supports the government’s target to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions.

According to Part S, all new residential developments in England must have at least one 7kW chargepoint for every residence with a parking space, with similar legislation also having been or soon to be brought in across the devolved nations of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Stephen Horridge, Head of Procurement at Redrow, added: “We are excited to partner with Pod Point to further enhance the sustainability of our developments. Pod Point’s industry-leading products, expertise, and supply chain security make them the ideal partner to meet the rapidly growing demand we’re seeing from customers for EV charging.”
