BVRLA holds EV event at LGA conference

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) is due to hold an event for local authorities on electric vehicle charging at the Local Government Association (LGA) annual conference this year.

The networking reception is taking place during the LGA Conference on the evening of Tuesday 4 July at the Hilton Hotel in Bournemouth.

The event presents the opportunity for elected local officials and local council officers to engage with those involved in developing and rolling out the UK’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure and learn about funding opportunities through LEVI.

Experts talking including leaders from the Energy Saving Trust, Connected Kerb, LeasePlan ALD Automotive, and Enterprise.

The speakers will explore the key elements that all local authorities are facing with the roll-out of EV charging infrastructure, alongside presenting the ways in which the industry is on hand to support.

The short panel will be followed by an extended period of casual collaboration and conversation to make new contacts, share challenges and hear more about available solutions.

Toby Poston, BVRLA Director of Corporate Affairs, said: “Local authorities are being given more power to develop and implement plans at a local level. That is a positive step but one that can only be taken if they are also given the support and resources to use that power effectively. The industry is well placed and well equipped to provide that support. We can provide data, advice and tangible recommendations that can enable authorities to deliver strategies that work for all road users.

“This event will kickstart those conversations, giving local authority representatives the contacts and the confidence to make the right calls when developing the EV infrastructure plans that their residents require.”

Attendance is free to all elected local officials and local council officers, with advance registration required to secure a spot. Spaces can be reserved via the BVRLA website.
