London Mayor welcomes Volta Trucks hub

All-electric firm Volta Trucks has officially opened its Truck as Service Hub in Tottenham, London.

Located on White Hart Lane in Tottenham, North London, the facility is the first to open in the UK and is designed to be the main destination for routine servicing and maintenance of vehicles in the London area.

The hub will provide everything a fleet operator needs to support their seamless transition to electric trucks, also hosting offices, a training centre and a customer call centre with 24/7 assistance and technical support.

Together with engineering, software and development facilities in the Midlands, and its commercial operations in Reading, the London Hub brings Volta Trucks’ own UK organisation to more than 600 employees.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Zero-emission freight is an area which has been considered a significant barrier in the shift to decarbonising road transport. That is why I’m delighted to support Volta Trucks, who have recently launched the London trial of their first fully electric heavy goods vehicle (HGV). The new Volta Zero vehicle is the future of London’s freight – world-leading in terms of green technology, while also meeting the highest safety standard which can be awarded to an HGV.”

Tottenham MP David Lammy said “It is vital to have these next generation of trucks on our roads to improve road safety and air quality with the workforce in place to support them.”

Essa Al-Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of Volta Trucks, said: “On our mission towards decarbonising urban logistics, we need political support through financial incentives, regulatory certainty and measures to accelerate the installation of charging infrastructure.”

Casper Norden, Chief Fleet Solutions Officer of Volta Trucks, said: “By establishing a strong presence in London and other major European cities, we aim to revolutionise the way that goods are delivered and transported in cities, accelerating the adoption of electric commercial vehicles, and paving the way for a cleaner and greener future.”
