ITS (UK) appoints new Chief Executive

Max Sugarman has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the UK’s Intelligent Transport Systems industry association, ITS (UK).

Max started his role by travelling to Dublin on Tuesday to meet fellow heads of National ITS Associations at a meeting of the ITS Nationals body. Over the next few weeks, he’ll be introducing himself and getting to know Members, some of whom he has already met at industry show Highways UK.

He is succeeding current Secretary General Jennie Martin, who is stepping down after more than 20 years with the organisation. The pair will work together until Mrs Martin’s retirement in mid-January.

Max Sugarman, Chief Executive of ITS (UK), said: “I’m very excited to be starting with ITS (UK), in what is such a dynamic and important sector for the country. I’m looking forward to getting to know our many varied members, finding out more about what they do and how ITS (UK) can work to support them and the wider industry.

“I look forward to working with Jennie and the team going forward, and getting out and about to meet as many members and stakeholders as possible, in order to help build an even bigger and better intelligent transport sector.”

Mr Sugarman has previous experience at the Railway Industry Association, the leading trade body for rail suppliers, where he led the organisation’s award-winning Public Affairs and PR function, represented the industry to senior decision makers across Government and supported the growth of the organisation over five years.

ITS (UK) is an independent membership society of private and public sector transport technology-related organisations plus academia.  Serving multinationals  to micro SMEs, ITS (UK) facilitates excellent networking, knowledge sharing and PR opportunities and is also the powerful combined voice of the ITS Industry, leading the conversation about intelligent mobility.
