RAW Charging to open its biggest EV charging hub as company signs sponsorship deal with Oxford City FC
RAW Charging, one of the largest UK providers of electric vehicle charging solutions and infrastructure, has announced a sponsorship agreement with Oxford City Football Club that will see it build an EV Charge Yard outside the club’s stadium.
The two-year sponsorship deal will see Oxford City FC’s stadium be renamed the “RAW Charging Stadium”, whilst RAW will also sponsor the team’s kit.
The Charge Yard will be the largest that RAW has opened and will have a mix of DC and AC chargers, with 16 charging bays for visitors to use. Initially, there will be 8 DC chargers, offering 150kW and 300kW along with 2 AC chargers.
The EV charging facility is designed to deliver electric vehicle charging to the people of Oxford, including football fans, taxi drivers, passers-by, local businesses and anyone who is in the area. With an estimated 45% of drivers needing to charge their EVs away from home, EV charging is a valuable addition to Oxford City FC. The Charge Yard can be used by anyone and is well located, situated off the A40 and is also close to the nearby John Radcliffe Hospital.
RAW, who were founded in Oxford, look forward to supporting Oxford City FC, Oxford City Council and the local community in delivering EV charging in the city. Oxford is the fastest growing city in the UK for EV infrastructure, leading the way with low carbon roads and RAW’s Charge Yard, setting an example for towns and cities across the UK.
The Charge Yard will aid the growing demand for EV charging, as more drivers switch to electric vehicles ahead of the 2030 government ban of new petrol and diesel cars. Drivers can opt to charge their vehicle whilst visiting the stadium or the local area.
Bruce Galliford, CEO, RAW Charging, said: “We’re excited to be working with Oxford City Football Club to launch a new Charge Yard and to sponsor them as a team. RAW’s roots are in Oxford, although we now operate across Europe, so it is great to work and support the local team, Oxford City Council and the wider community. This is the second Charge Yard we have launched, with many more to come and we look forward to providing affordable and reliable EV charging to the people of Oxford.”
Justin Merritt, Oxford City Director of Football, said: “This is a ground-breaking partnership for not just the football club, but for our community. We are committed to making the club sustainable and providing the community with first class infrastructure and facilities and this partnership helps deliver that.
“We are proud to have partnered with the UK’s leading EV charge point company that is at the forefront of carbon-free innovation in the sustainability industry. The vision RAW Charging has to implement sustainable infrastructure across Oxford is exciting and we are proud to be the home of its first EV charging hub in the city.”
In other news, RAW Charging has signed a new partnership with installation software company Jumptech. The partnership with Jumptech enables RAW Charging to increase install volumes with their partners whilst maintaining visibility of the status of each project, and ensuring they receive a detailed completion report summarising the charge point installation, which is automatically generated by the platform.
Jumptech’s mobile app will ensure that engineers have access to all the information they need to perform the installation to RAW’s required standards and all details, photographs and documentation will be passed back in real time to RAW Charging once the charge point is made operational.
