SES Water boosts green credentials by adding more electric vehicles to its fleet

SES Water now has 30 environmentally friendly cars and vans in its fleet, making up 17% of the total number, and a further 10 have been ordered which it hopes to get on the road in the new year.

SES Water’s Fleet Manager, Allan Jones, said: “Protecting the environment is always at the forefront of everything we do and one of the biggest changes we can make is by switching to electric cars.

“We’ve increased our environmentally friendly fleet vehicles by 16 in the past seven months and have already ordered another 10 vans and three cars.

“Each electric car we own will help save around 2-3 tonnes of CO2e per year as well as reducing the impact on local air quality.”

SES Water has also changed its company car scheme to include electric or plug in hybrid vehicles only. Employees will be provided with home-charging facilities and all of the Company’s treatment works and Redhill Head Office already have vehicle charging points in place.

SES Water’s Energy and Carbon Manager, Henrietta Stock, added: “We’re committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. We’re constantly innovating to find new ways to reduce our impact on the environment but we’re also looking at the quick changes we can make.

“The new electric fleet is just one way we’re working to protect the environment, in line with the Public Interest Commitment made by all English water companies.”
