Reconnecting at ITT Hub

With just over a week to go until Innovation and Technology in Transport (ITT Hub) opens its doors, the event’s CEO Mark Griffin reflects on the work taken to get to this point and outlines the key reasons why people should take the time to attend.

If anyone had told me three years ago that we would be looking at such an array of latest vehicle and transport technology at Farnborough in just over a week’s time then I have to say that I would have struggled to have believed them.

The pace of change and impact of Net Zero policies across commercial and public transport is accelerating so quickly that it is extremely difficult to keep one’s finger on the pulse. There is some incredible technology and innovative solutions which are going to play a major part in the decarbonisation of transport.

We are incredibly excited and proud to be opening the doors to Innovation and Technology in Transport. When we prepared our business plan just over three years ago we decided to create a brand which would “do what it says on the tin”. Explaining the concept of ITT Hub to the market then was, I admit, somewhat of a challenge. It’s human nature to be sceptical and wary of change but here we stand three years later with over 150 companies taking part and over 35 leading industry speakers at our Future Logistics Conference.

All of as have had our fill with the strong headwinds over the last two years. I’m going to avoid mentioning the “B” word” or the “C” word because we are here to look forwards not in the rear view mirror. Many of you will have adapted your business to stay ahead of the competition.

We believe that we’ve created a new concept for the sector to support in future years with our annual event which will be staged at the brilliant Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre. As a launch event we’ve tried to be different to give visitors something unique to experience. We encourage feedback and as a launch event I would love to hear your feedback and experience so please do drop me a line (mark.griffin@binswoodmedia.com) as we are committed to making ITT Hub THE event to be at each year.

Taking the plunge to launch any new business or brand in any market is never easy. ITT Hub has been no different. Having the vision, the ambition, the plan and determination are absolutely vital. Leading the Binswood Media team has been an incredible journey. This achievement has only been possible because of the magnificent support of some incredible people and organisations who have bought into the vision back in 2018.

We are especially grateful to every single member of our Advisory Board who have challenged and supported us along the way. My Chairman Leon Daniels OBE has been a rock and his guidance, motivation , encouragement and infectious enthusiasm to see ITT Hub be a reality has been a privilege to experience. Our friends and colleagues at Logistics UK have demonstrated what a trade association can do if it works in true spirit of partnership as we create something fresh and exciting. Our amazing commercial partners in Lloyds Banking Group, National Grid, Centrica and Lex Autolease have remained by our side along without who we would not have been able to stand here and deliver the show you will see.

The brilliant venue team have been inspiring and our fantastic contractors and suppliers have risen to the challenge of helping recreate our vision of this long awaited new look event. Many of our friends across the trade media have backed us and been tremendous in helping raising the profile of the show. Every single one of my team have been totally committed and have dug deep to help pull rabbits out of hats and make the show. They’ve done what it takes when it’s needed and I cannot thank them enough especially Nick Fielding who is overseas working on another trade event launch.

And then of course there are our exhibitors and speakers without whom there would be no ITT Hub. That support, above all, has spurred us on to create a show to get excited about. The support from our many government agencies and the 6 Sub National Transport Bodies who are here taking part to share knowledge and information is the key to creating industry collaboration. Our sponsors and partners Webfleet, Bridgestone, myenergi, Zenobe, Totalkare and Zemo Partnership.

My Chairman Leon Daniels OBE has been a rock and his guidance, motivation , encouragement and infectious enthusiasm to see ITT Hub be a reality has been a privilege to experience. That has been evidenced in him launching our three podcast series along with Sara Sloman and Matt Eisenegger who regularly get behind the microphone to bring something fresh and interesting to listen too on Talking Net Zero, Lunch with Leon and CV Focus.

So finally, a plea from me to you, our visitors, to please take the time to join us at Farnborough and be at the largest show with so many leading vehicle brands of its kind in the UK in this sector for almost 40 years.

This is YOUR EVENT , we’ve just created it for you and the transport industry to be inspired by. I do hope that everyone enjoys their experience so they can go away and tell everyone and bring them back here next May.

The Future is HERE and they could come along and share in it too. Enjoy Reconnecting!
