70% of drivers would prefer to ‘try out’ EV before buying

The majority of UK consumers would prefer to trial an EV through a lease deal for several years before committing to the technology, according to a new report.

The study, undertaken by consumer media brand Auto Trader, claimed than 70% would prefer a 2 to 3 year lease on an EV rather than purchasing such a vehicle outright.

But overall the news was positive with 79% of drivers considering buying an EV or have already bought one.

The survey of 2,025 drivers also found 40% admitted to “reservations” about the technology and capabilities of EVs and half still were concerned about range anxiety with 51% worried about charging points.
